Program Design

A workout program is created and tailored to the specific needs of the client. The program takes into consideration the capabilities of the client, as well as the client’s availability and access to equipment. As the client advances the program is altered to be within their capabilities. Programs are provided under terms of confidentiality and rely on the client’s feedback to create as accurate a program as possible. It is noted that some level of experience and discipline is required for such a program.

Healthy Lifestyle Planning

This process takes a look at the major contributing factors of the client’s current health and fitness goals to be achieved. It involves creating a situation that encourages the client to think more critically while becoming more aware of their habits and the knock-on effects on their programs and attitudes to training. The client undergoes an initial planning interview and a subsequent meeting to discuss the execution of the plan. The individual who takes a holistic approach to their fitness health goals tends to be more successful in attaining their lifestyle goals. This type of planning can be stand-alone or part of the client’s enrollment into the program.

Group Fitness Training

The main business of dbA lies in group fitness training, which is executed in a “bootcamp” style format. Hints of other forms of group exercise are added for variety and to help the clients achieve their goals. Individual requests and feedback from the client are facilitated so that clients do not have a sense of ‘cookie cutter’ format being applied to them. Sessions last approximately an hour to one hour and fifteen minutes. The sessions aim to be challenging, engaging and most of all fun filled. The population of these groups ranges vastly in age and capabilities.

1-to-1 Personal Strength and Fitness Training

Traditional one to one personal training is facilitated. This allows direct focus on the client’s needs with specific care and attention to details. This format allows clients the option of personalized attention that may be required or needed given a particular circumstance. For example, current physical condition (transitioning from physiotherapy into strength training) or the “weekend warrior”/part-time athlete who may have sport specific needs.

Body Composition Analysis

Client’s body composition is analyzed using an ultrasound methodology that is founded in the clinical method of using skin fold callipers. The key components are body fat percentage and lean mass. During a weight loss regime the ideal way to determine quality of weight loss or changes in body fat composition is through body composition analysis. The ultrasound system provides a comfortable alternative to the pinch associated with skin fold callipers. In addition to an accurate body composition reading, the client is able to receive an analysis that provides approximate values for daily caloric intake and basal metabolic rates.
